Choosing The Right Beach

Although you might be limited on choice depending on where you’re heading, you want to ensure you’re choosing the best possible beach for YOU. If you find it hard to hike, you may not want to choose a beach where you have to climb down to access it. If you’re worried about how confident you’ll feel, it might be best to choose a quieter beach. If you think you’re going to struggle walking on pebbles, finding a beach with more sand than stone will definitely help. If you are worried about flimsy beach chairs, a beach that offers beach beds or cabanas would suit you perfectly.

Everyone has different needs and comfort levels, so it’s important you’re thinking about these when you choose where you’re going to go.

Everyone has different needs and comfort levels, so it’s important you’re thinking about these when you choose where you’re going to go. If you don’t know a lot about the beaches in the area you’re staying in, a quick Google search will tell you everything you need. Trip Advisor also has lots of helpful tips, so it’s worth checking out what other people’s experiences have been like.

What To Pack

When it comes to packing for a beach day, there are a number of essentials everyone will need to pack. This includes:

• Swimwear
• A change of clothes
• An (XL) beach towel
• Wide fit Sea shoes
• Sunscreen
• Drinking water

You may want to consider also packing:

• A portable fan (and a portable charger to keep it charged all day)
• A windbreaker (that you can use to get changed behind)
• Comfortable walking shoes for getting on/off the beach (and walking on pebbles)
• A cover-up (if you don’t quite feel comfortable in swimwear)
• Anti-chafing balm (there’s often lots of walking around with wet legs)
• Cooling mist (for when the fan isn’t quite enough)

Backpacks are often easier to carry than a beach bag so if you know there’s quite a walk to and from the beach, you may want to consider using a backpack instead.

At The Beach

When you’re at the beach, there’s not a lot you need to think about, as most of your preparation will ensure you’re having the best possible time.

A couple of tips we have picked up along the way, however, are:

• Choose a space to set up that makes you feel comfortable. Whether it’s out of the way of people or close to the entrance and exit, only you know what will make you feel relaxed throughout the day.
• Relax. Once you’re there and you have everything you need for the day, the hard part is done. Enjoy it and make the most of the time you have to relax.
• Don’t be afraid to have fun. We know just how difficult it can be to let your hair down when there are so many people around you, but getting in the water is one of the most freeing things you can do. You’ll feel amazing afterwards and it will do wonders for your confidence. We promise, no one is looking at you anyway.
• If you’re going to take part in any activities or water sports while you’re at the beach, make sure you’re double-checking the weight limits first. Often things like windsurfing and paragliding do have limits. The staff will be able to help you if you’re unsure.

Here at Plus Size Travel Too we love spending the day at the beach, so we hope these plus size beach tips help you learn to love it too.
